Construction Project Manager - Transportation Infrastructure Job in City of Edmonton Canada

 You will be required to:
  • Meet with the General Supervisor and project stakeholders to develop knowledge of upcoming projects under your supervision 
  • Review designs, estimate, tender, and manage the construction of transportation infrastructure projects  
  • Work collaboratively with external consultants, review designs and determine the most appropriate construction methods to deliver optimal transportation projects
  • Meet with the project team and contractors to discuss project progress, obstacles and solutions
  • Identify any problems encountered and recommend concrete solutions that lead to best practices in project delivery
  • Meet project milestones on or before scheduled completion dates
  • Lead a team of up to 6 professional and technical staff
  • Lead public forums and provide informative presentations at public meetings /open houses
  • Create and maintain projects budgets, and contribute to the overall City of Edmonton Capital Program 
  • Perform all work in accordance with the Branch's Occupational Health & Safety Program and EnvISO - Environmental Management System (ISO 14001)


  • Civil Engineering Degree from a recognized University including course work in construction, transportation engineering, project management, and general management
  • Must be a Professional Engineer and eligible for professional membership with APEGA
  • 7 years progressively responsible experience as an engineer (roadway or construction related), including experience managing complex multimillion dollar budgets
  • Proven ability to supervise both professional and technical staff,
  • Thorough understanding of roadway, civil, and municipal infrastructure construction methods
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with consultants, contractors, internal and external stakeholders
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Must arrange own transportation to be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This may require business auto insurance
