Generator Specialist (System Lead) Job in Århus N, Midtjylland United States

  • You will be technically responsible acting as our System Lead for Power Production including generators.
  • You will be developing service solutions for generators, transformers, converters etc.
  • You will be focusing on not only Vestas but also multiband turbines in the multi-kW and MW range.
  • Your focus area will be continuous improvement and cost out activities of existing products and secure valuable design input for the future designs.
  • You will in close cooperation with project team lead and manage your projects end to end, from requirement spec is initiated and until handover has been accepted by the internal costumer.

Your responsibilities include: 
  • New service product development within our system responsibility and in conjunction with our project office delivering on committed scope, budget and schedule.
  • Upgrades / Engineering Change Management (ECM) of our existing machines.
  • Providing input to Service Technology Roadmap and Vestas Technology Roadmap
  • Contribution to generator related Commodity teams
  • Support our Repair shops within the generator segment.
  • You manage sub-contractors, and suppliers to ensure they perform as agreed within your system.
  • You ensure that our processes are followed and you contribute to a continuous improvement of our processes as well.

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical Engineering or maybe Mechanical Engineering supplemented by an electromagnetic in-depth understanding.
  • You have industry experience (>5 years) in R&D environment working with heavy-duty converter driven machines.
  • Preferable you come with a history of design, manufacturing and repair skills where the distance between your calculations and the manufacturing shop floor is only a few meters.
  • If you come with service operation knowledge and understand the need for balancing product quality, lifetime and customer needs it will highly valued.
  • Specific work experience within the wind industry is beneficial but not required.
  • Furthermore:
  • You are used to managing and handling sub-contractors and sub suppliers
  • You are a good communicator, and you are able to communicate cross cultural
  • Experience from larger organizations will be an advantage.

  • Calculation of electromagnetic fields machine parameters and overall magnetic performance (including analytic and FEA )
  • Thermodynamics within electrical machines
  • Mechanical interfaces
  • Insulation systems at low and medium voltage
  • Material engineering
  • Relevant international standards and requirements
  • Test & verification of electrical machines
  • Design for production
  • familiarity with current electric machine manufacturing practices
  • Reliability engineering
  • DFMEA and FMEA processes
