As the Specialist for Unified Communications (UC) Engineering, you will be responsible for designing and implementing Unified Communications systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Migrating analogue and digital PBX phone systems to VOIP
- Migrating and upgrading legacy VC systems to next generation unified call manager platform.
- Consolidating call manager infrastructure
- Preparing and testing UC clients for mass deployment (e.g. Jabber, WebEx and Spark)
- Maintaining global address books and a unified dial plan
- Planning and migrating ISDN services to SIP
- Troubleshooting complex UC related issues, such as voice quality issues.
- Using skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures.
- Resolving a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.
- Working on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
- Demonstrating good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Interacting with senior internal and external personnel.
About you
You have an understanding of UC technologies and industry trends, including Voice, Video, Conferencing, and IM and how to apply them at scale. Furthermore, you have a good understanding of network and wireless technologies, and have a strong level of knowledge of UC administration across multiple solution platforms and device types. A strong knowledge of network concepts and principles is also sought after, alongside your ability to capture requirements and document high level and detailed designs for voice and video solutions.
To be successful you will need to have:
- Technical Degree (STEM) which is mandatory for these roles.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional, Collaboration
- Cisco Certified Network Professional, Routing & Switching (strongly desirable)
- Experience in a large enterprise converged UC deployments
- Voice or video engineering experience
- Experience in medium/large corporate voice and video rollout and support
- Must have strong understanding of L1 to L4 networking
- Heavy "hands on" technical experience of the following Cisco UC technologies: - Call Manager, Cisco Unity, Voice Gateways, CUBE, Telepresence, Jabber, WebEx, Spark, VCS, TMS, TCS, MCU's and Telepresence end points
- Knowledge of video conferencing protocols, communications and standards, H.323, SIP, E.164
- Knowledge of voice circuits, including SIP, TDM, etc.
- Knowledge of QoS, SIP, H.323, RTP, SCCP, SRST, SIP and multicast. –
- Knowledge of Network Management and experience with PRIME, Solarwinds, Netflow, Wireshark
Proven experience troubleshooting environments which include Cisco Unified communication & video conferencing infrastructure, Cisco routers and switches.
