This is a dual brand Senior Director-level role with two direct reports (and a total team of nine). The position reports directly into the Divisional Senior Merchandising Director and will be the key product representative for CALVIN KLEIN Performance and Tommy Sport for all channels.
As part of the leadership team for the overall Underwear Division, you will have the vision to manage and drive the product strategy for the Performance brand to ensure continuing growth. You will lead and motivate the Merchandising team in order to maximize sales & profit in line with the company objectives ensuring that each country has the product offer they need to maintain and gain leadership positioning.
Experienced in formulating and implementing seasonal merchandising strategies, you will have the commercial skills to meet financial targets and to drive profitable growth as well as having a creative outlook. An experienced Merchandising professional from a fast paced background, you'll currently be operating as a Head of Product Creation, and will have multi-channel merchandising experience.
Since this position is a crucial leadership function between the different departments in the creation and go-to-market process, the candidate must possess creative and analytical skills, and very strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills. He or she is the key accountable lead in delivering an on-target collection that will drive sales. It is the Senior Director’s responsibility to maintain a strong collaborative relationship with the cross functional teams, as well as to ensure a good partnership with all of the other global product divisions that collaborate with Tommy Sport.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Is the global product creation lead for Tommy Sport and the most Senior Merchandising point of contact for all channels and departments
- Is the regional product merchandising lead for CALVIN KLEIN Performance in Europe and the most Senior Merchandising point of contact for all channels and departments
- Drives the strategy and overall process between Merchandising Europe, CKP Merchandising & Design Global, Planning, Sales and Marketing/PR/Visual Merchandising Leads the Merchandising Managers on their growth paths
- Owns the KPI’s within the department and ensures that they are achieved, by driving and motivating the merchandisers, and setting clear objectives
- Sets up the seasonal brand and merchandising strategy in-line with Management objectives
- Aligns the product strategy with Management, and cross functional counterparts counter parts
- Ensures that the product strategies are meeting the requirements of the EU market and meeting the divisional KPI’s including margin targets
- Drives the product strategy and overall process between Merchandising, Design, Sourcing, Planning, Sales and Marketing/PR/Visual Merchandising
- Supports the Merchandising Managers in driving, and creating range plans that offer best assortment at the right price positioning for the European market, in line with the brand vision
- Drives the collaboration with Marketing/PR/Visual Merchandising departments on a seasonal marketing plan which will raise brand awareness and drive sales
- Works closely with the Marketing Director to orchestrate an effective go-to-market process in Europe
- Works closely with the Sales Director to ensure that the department supports all market trends and has strong collaboration with the countries
- Ensures product strategies are being communicated to the relevant markets and launches are being correctly supported by the markets
- Partners with Planning/Forecasting on all pre-market buying commitments and projections
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA Degree (best in Fashion Merchandising or a related field)
- 10+ years work experience in apparel product creation and or merchandising
- Ideally work experience in retail buying or selling
- Excellent organizational, communication and negotiating skills necessary
- High level of creative and analytical skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset
- Excellent Computer skills including Excel and Power Point; PDM literate is a plus
- Some travel may be required
