Job Description
- The role holder is responsible for developing retail credit risk models and managing end-to-end implementation of modelling projects with the aim to deliver robust, predictive models and tools that are compliant with both internal and external regulations and provide business with insights and recommendations.
- Develops and implements strategic plans in line with the division’s objectives.
- Supports the development of the workforce plan for the division by providing inputs on own department’s workforce forecasts.
- Manages and controls the operating framework for the department, provides guidance and support, ensures implementation and review of work processes in order to achieve high performance standards and continuous improvement.
- Leads and guides the development, validation, and implementation of credit risk scoring models across life cycle of various retail portfolios, scenario analysis and economic capital models, in order to deliver robust, predictive models and tools that are compliant with both internal and external regulations.
- Reviews BANK’s retail credit risk models and wider rating systems against the risk requirements on a periodic basis, identifies opportunities to improve the models and processes, makes recommendations to senior management for model changes/enhancements and implements cutting edge techniques in order to maximise value and develop best in class decision tools.
- Gets involved in the building of complex credit risk models used in application and account management as well as to determine PD, EAD, LGD, segmentation and other credit risk models in order to support risk based pricing, portfolio management and risk appetite setting and monitoring.
- Oversees accurate implementation of models and supports their use, interpretation and monitoring and constantly realigns models to monitor performance with the aim to provide ongoing guidance on all lending activities for retail clients.
- Reflects risk strategies, policies and procedures relative to key aspects of the retail credit process and monitors all exposures are in line with regulatory requirements, BANK and Bank group policies and risk appetite.
- Reviews risk capital requirement stress test results on an annual basis and provides input to various risk committees.
- Acts as an advisor to other BANK departments on wider credit risk modelling issues such as decision analysis, provision and stress testing models.
- Provides business with insights and recommendations and works in close collaboration with all three lines of defence in order to improve strategy and processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics or Mathematics, master’s degree is preferred.
- Advanced Risk Management certification from recognised bodies (such as CIPM, GARP) is an advantage.
- Written and spoken English and Arabic is essential.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with at least 4 years in a similar role.
- Consultancy, credit risk management or embedded business line experience in corporate banking is required.
