Senior Cultural Guide Job at Al Shindagha Museum Dubai United Arab Emirates

We are currently recruiting a Senior Cultural Guide for the Al Shindagha Museum, Dubai's latest, landmark cultural and heritage experience located within the Al Shindagha Historical District. A key part of this activation will be a team of enthusiastic and passionate Emirati & Non-Emirati museum staff to bring the project to life. We are currently looking for Senior Cultural Guides, who will provide inspiring experiences and tell authentic stories for all our visitors at the district.

Reports To: Chief Cultural Guide/ Operational Project Manager

No. of Staff: Supervised: Up to 17 directly / indirectly support project teams

Duration: 5-month initial contract with potential to be extended

Salary: Emirati 16,000 AED/ / non Emirati 14,500 AED per month including benefits

As a Senior Cultural Guide, you will be responsible for the shared management of a team of Cultural Guides, ensuring the smooth and seamless delivery of guide duties in the district.

You will be an inspirational and organised manager and leader, able to build teams, motivate and support guides through exceptionally busy and demanding days to create a consistently high performing and proactive Guiding Team.

Responsibilities -

  • Motivate and inspire guides, forecast and anticipate needs, wants and concerns from staff and lead by example to build an effective and happy team.
  • Acting as experienced and skilled ambassadors and the public face of the district
  • Provide and model outstanding customer service to all stakeholders including visitors, clients and colleagues.
  • Deal with any public complaints calmly, efficiently and politely following complaints procedures and reporting upwards as necessary to ensure smooth running of operations,
  • Managing and organising the guides day-to-day shifts and rosters.
  • Managing the guides' absence cover, lunch breaks and incentive initiatives.
  • Manage the guides’ delivery of tours, educational workshops and activities and facilitating visitors inside the district, ensuring guides deliver programmes as rostered and to standards
  • Identify training needs and work with Talents UAE trainers on on-going training plans and personal development plans as necessary.
  • Manage the opening procedures including morning checks and closing procedures of the district depending on shift patterns.
  • Produce regular operational update reports, to the Chief Cultural Guide
  • Offer additional support to the Chief Cultural Guides as required.
  • Work closely with the HR Manager to ensure all staff follow correct HR procedures.
  • Deal with visitors' observations and complaints and work to solve them satisfactorily and in the fastest time, prepare and submit daily reports to the line manager.
  • Ensure the implementation of the safety and security procedures, policies and instructions applied in the authority.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities related to the job as assigned.

At the district, you will be part of a skilled and high-performing team, telling the stories of the area and the UAE. You will provide the warmest welcome and highest level of customer service to visitors at this outstanding cultural destination in Dubai.   • Reliable, punctual, professional individuals who can manage and lead teams
  • Flexibility to work according to the operational requirements which include working weekends and public holidays.
  • Bilingual - English/Arabic [additional languages are a bonus]
  • Experience leading teams
  • Tour Guiding Experience is desirable
  • Customer Service Experience
