Position: Audit Director - Public Practice, Financial Services Clients

Job Summary:
Fantastic opportunity for an existing Audit Director to gain a pathway to Partnership with a growing firm where culture is rated as one of the best in the market place.
The purpose of the role is to provide a high quality service to clients in respect of the preparation and audit of statutory accounts and on occasions, other ad hoc assignments. Responsible for reviewing audit and accounts assignments prior to being passed on to Partners.
Additionally, the role will be:
- To manage a large/complex portfolio of cases and provide clients with practical and efficient advice whilst developing strong working relationships
- To assist the partners in business development and marketing initiatives and leveraging opportunities to maximise fee income
- To coach and mentor members within the team
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for a portfolio of clients, managing the day to day caseload and resolving client queries without direct supervision from the partners
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the department and take responsibility for project implementation
- Knowledge and understanding of all ongoing cases within the department in order to deal professionally with all enquiries
- Provide support to Senior Managers and Associate Directors to ensure they maximise their teams potential
- Responsible for financial billing targets, reviewing billing targets, utilisation rates, recovery rates, chargeable hours etc.
- Agree/negotiate clients fees per engagement as appropriate
- Maintain a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of UK GAAP and / or IFRS
- Provide input for policy setting, as well as implement systems and controls for the department
- Responsible for junior and senior members of staff, on clients matters regarding, all internal/external communications, including written work to ensure they meet the firms professional standards
- Plan and manage the allocation of staff within your team maximising overall recovery rates and minimising risk
- Ensure that all members of the team fully understand their roles and any developments that affect them
- Deal confidently with confrontational situations and support team members when they face such situations
- Be involved in the interview process for staff in accordance with the firm’s guidelines
- Specialise in marketing a particular area(s) of expertise, developing niche markets/ growing and developing the client portfolio
- Develop internal and external contacts in order to maximise cross selling opportunities, building strong client rapport
- Take an active involvement in marketing initiatives
- Produce six monthly reports, confirming business development initiatives / activities
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Candidates must be ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
- Previous experience operating at director level in a similar role is required
- Assurance experience of Financial Services clients
- Proven experience in client handling
- Proven Assurance experience in producing high quality audits
- Excellent knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS
Desirable:
- Assurance experience from a practice background would be a distinct advantage
- Exposure / working knowledge of PROaudit
- Experience of analytical review approach desirable
- Business development experience and interest would be a distinct advantage
