Senior Consulting Engineer/Senior Advising Engineer vacancy in SAN FRANCISCO, CA, United States

This classification is represented by Engineers & Scientists of California (ESC) subject to collective bargaining.

The position will be responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance in the areas of
NERC standards; bulk transmission and rated paths technical issues; WECC related transmission issues and any impact on PG&E's system; PG&E's Remedial Action Schemes; technical and

policy matters related to transmission development for meeting the Company's policy goals.

Qualifications
Minimum:

• Has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering

• Minimum of least 13 years of experience in electrical engineering with focus on bulk transmission system analysis, and interregional studies along with some experience in the following:
- Is recognized as an expert within his/her area of responsibility.
- Has experience in developing technical policies and procedures and contributed in the development of standards, specifications, and guidelines
- Has experience in providing high-level advice and expertise to upper management frequently and consistently.

Desired:

• Masters degree in Electrical Engineering

• EIT/PE Certification, registered Electrical Engineer in California

• Has technical leadership skills with demonstrated capability to solve highly complex problems

• Applies broad and extensive business understanding of technical issues and impacts the strategic direction and policies of the company.

• Has experience in conceiving and investigating areas in which engineering precedents are not tested.

Responsibilities
Additional responsibilities may include:

• Support Regional Planning group's efforts in the areas of load forecast, base case development, path rating and inter-regional studies, studies of PG&E's bulk transmission system required to support other departments, and others.

• Represent PG&E in various industry groups such as the California Independent Service Operator
(CAISO), Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), regional planning groups and coordination groups.

• Provide guidance to Transmission System Planning and other departments on transmission planning issues related to bulk transmission, RAS, NERC standards, and others.

• Provide support to contract negotiations involving transmission planning issues and in preparing reports and data for filing with regulatory agencies.

• Constantly seek improvements in the existing processes and methodologies and develop innovative solutions for complex transmission issues

• Serve as a primary lead and/or advisor in developing complex models

• Serve as a primary lead/advisor in developing methodology and assumptions Transmission
System Studies

• Participate as lead transmission planner in multi-department project team to develop project scope for large, complex projects including interstate bulk transmission projects.

• Lead WECC wide study or study groups or inter-regional planning efforts

• Provide guidance and support development of planning criteria, standards, and regulations

• Mentor Associate, Journey, and Senior level planning engineers.
