Reporting directly to the company owners and Managing Director, the company has an immediate vacancy for a Contracts Manager to be based at their head office in Doha.
The role is a corporate position and the incumbent will have full responsibility across all of the company’s projects.
Role and responsibilities
·Review the contracting strategies for the tender, award,and execution of the construction project components
Conduct technical and commercial evaluations of all tender contracts and assist in post-tender negotiation activities
·Review all project related contracts and any addenda, subsequent correspondence, proposed change orders and tender revisions. Ensure contracts conform to local regulatory and legal requirements and practices as well as FIDIC.
·Report on all project contract revisions and associated commercial implications.
·Working with the Project Manager and the Tender and QA/QC functions, ensure contract administration and invoicing reflect Contract Document terms and conditions - esp. materials and sub contractor services
·Prepare and log all correspondence received and sent related to all sub contractor, materials and service contract issues.
·Implement required contract reporting control procedures and associated information management systems.
·Initiate all follow up actions related to change orders and claims.
·Prepare monthly Contract Status and Claims Reports.
·Assist the Project Manager in resolving contract disputes with the Client, suppliers and sub-contractors.
Candidate profile
·Desirable - Relevant post secondary degree (preferably Quantity Surveying or Engineering) with appropriate professional accreditations and/or a significant number of years of formal and practical preparation in the area of construction contract management
·Ten to fifteen years' experience in the preparation, negotiation and management of large scale civil (office, hotel, apartment high rise complexes.) and industrial construction contracts and sub-contracts.
·Gulf experience a definite asset.
·Hands on experience in establishing and maintaining contract and QA/QC control processes and reporting procedures.
·The ability to understand and adapt international regulations and accepted practices and law pertaining to EPC contracts (FIDIC).
·The ability to negotiate sound contracts and to effectively resolve contract disputes.
·Experience in implementing and documenting ISO 9001 quality assurance practices.
·The ability to work well with multi disciplinary engineering and construction teams.
·Demonstrated leadership and problem- solving skills.
·Excellent report writing and verbal communications skills
