Description: Job Summary The Application DBA is responsible for database administration activities involving the COMPAS database platform and includes physical database design activities, PL/SQL coding, creation of database objects (DDL/DML), support deployment of database changes for all COMPAS releases, and monitor the health and performance of the COMPAS database. In addition, this role will assist problem resolution for all development, test, and production database environments, recommend technology adoption that will enhance database management capabilities, and provide SME to the COMPAS development team in the area of database management.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Participate in the design, implementation, and review of modifications impacting the physical database design and database architecture for the COMPAS system.
• Perform database administration tasks in QA and development environments, create database objects (tables, indexes, views, packages, etc), define security policies, create and maintain SQL and shell scripts to automate deployment tasks.
• Provide capacity projections and monitor space utilization.
• Monitor Oracle processes and logs for any anomalies, provide corrective actions as necessary.
• Perform Oracle tuning, including optimizing complex SQL statements and session tracing for best possible performance of application.
• Provide assistance to developers for resolving technical Oracle issues, document and implement Oracle best practices.
• Interface with developers regarding physical database design decisions and PL/SQL coding design.
• Act as point of contact for all database-related issues and take ownership of the relationship with Optum Managed Services Oracle DBA team.
• Support all phases of the software development lifecycle.
• Support the data governance processes.
• Review and enforce coding standards. Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred.
• Five or more years of experience in Oracle database architecture / administration including Oracle 12c.
• Expert knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL. * Six or more years of experience in physical database design and maintenance.
• Five or more years of experience implementing Oracle in a Unix environment.
• Experience with Oracle RAC.
• Experience with computer hardware and software installation/upgrades.
• Experience with database and system maintenance procedures.
• Experience with database performance tuning and establishing a proactive performance monitoring plan.
• Experience administering in VLDB environments. Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with MySQL.
• Experience with Microsoft Access, including forms development.
• Experience with Unix shell scripting.
• Solid background in applications development methodologies: SDLC, Agile Methodology: SCRUM and other IT industry standards.
• Experience with job scheduling software such as Tivoli Work Scheduler.
• Excellent analytical and creative problem solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong interpretive skills, as well as the ability to effectively present, negotiate, influence, and build consensus.
• Ability to interface with internal and external organizations.
• Knowledge of Master Data Management is a plus.
• Knowledge of Big Data is a plus.
• Knowledge of Cloud concepts and technologies is a plus.
