Role Overview:
You will report directly to an Executive Committee Member who has responsibility for Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime and Corporate Governance.
You will draft and negotiate contracts with a wide variety of vendors, partners, clients and consultants.
Within a supervised structure, you will also have a wide degree of autonomy to get involved in all areas of Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime and Corporate Governance for the Bank.
We are looking for a qualified lawyer with experience in contracts and trade finance who wants to grow and expand across the full spectrum of Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime and Corporate Governance.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Draft and negotiate a variety of complex contracts with vendors, partners, clients and consultants.
Work with the Bank’s executive team to identify innovation solutions to trade finance challenges in the UAE, GCC and broader markets.
Assist in implementing the Bank’s Legal Framework including the Legal Policy which covers the full gambit of Legal risks faced by a Category One Bank.
Be involved in the maintenance of, and engagement with, the panel of external lawyers. Instruct external lawyers on specific matters to obtain opinions.
Draft corporate documents including Resolutions, Memorandums, and other required documents.
Assist with regulatory matters such as licensing and cross border issues.
There will be an ability for the individual to get involved in matters including Intellectual Property, Documentation Management, Data Protection, Competition Law, Employment, Dispute Resolution, Transactions, Credit, Security, Structuring and Data Protection.
Assist with implementing and overseeing the Banks Compliance and Financial Crime Framework.
Ability to get involved in regulatory matters, Conflicts, Marketing and Disclosures, Treating Customers Fairly, Monitoring, Training, Policy and Procedure, Systems and Controls, Risk assessments, Regulatory Change and other related matters.
Ability to get involved in AML, Sanctions, Fraud, CTF, ABC, SARS and reporting, Risk Assessments, KYC and other related matters.
Assess and implement technology solutions to achieve best practices in risk management.
Qualifications
It is ESSENTIAL that you hold a law degree from a common law jurisdiction and a current practicing certificate. Individuals without this will NOT be considered.
In addition, qualifications in Compliance, Governance, Risk or Financial Crime are highly desirable.
Qualifications in business, economics or other related disciplines will also be considered advantageous.
Knowledge
Extensive knowledge of contracts and the vendor management process.
Knowledge of trade finance specifically and commercial banking specifically.
Extensive knowledge of the market & market trends, competitive environment and the Legal and Regulatory environment.
Knowledge of data science and automation in the field of Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime and Corporate Governance.
